The 25th Mayor’s Environmental Expo officially opened Tuesday night at city hall.
Mayor Nenshi along with former mayors Dave Bronconnier and Al Duerr were all on hand for the opening ceremonies.
The Mayor’s Environment Expo runs from June 3rd-7th with a goal of inspiring students and families to take simple actions to protect our environment.
In addition to launching the week’s festivities, the Jack Leslie Environment Grant Award and the Mayor’s Expo Youth Photography Awards were also given out.
To mark the 25th anniversary, the expo has a special theme this year entitled, “The Difference A Generation Makes.”
The festivities include a photo and video contest, outdoor performers, student exhibits and eco-projects where students come up with solutions to challenges facing our city today.
While the bulk of the expo is designed for students in K-9, there will also be a community day on Saturday.
