Calgary police have charged two suspects in an alleged lottery scam.
After a Canada-wide investigation, they say the man and woman are accused of mailing fraudulent letters to people telling them they’d won the lottery.
To collect their winnings, the targets were told they had to deposit large sums of money into a specific account.
The pair was arrested back in March at a home on Glamis Drive southwest, where police found credit card information, mail with counterfeit postage, computers, and mailing lists used in the alleged scam.
Canada Post was able to find more than 5,000 letters with the same counterfeit postage addressed to people across Canada and the US.
34 year old Albert Egbe Onolunose and 25 year old Abeba Girma face charges.
