The Calgary Hitmen have a new man behind the bench.
Mark French will take over as head coach next season.
Voice of the Hitmen Brad Curle likes the move.
“I think it’s a great hire,” he said.
“They were looking for someone with a tremendous resume and that’s what you get in Mark. Anytime you’ve guided a team to a Calder Cup Championship, which is the highest level of professional hockey outside of the National Hockey League in North America it speaks volumes of his credibility and experience behind the bench and his ability to have success. That’s what they were looking for, a winner, and they’ve got one”
Curle said there will be a learning curve for French, but he should be able to adjust to working with teenagers instead of professionals.
