The local animal shelters are full of kittens.
As a result the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is putting on a special adoption event Saturday.
Katie Ayres with AARCS says there are 220 cats in their care; most of them are kittens, and a number of those are from strays.
“We do our very best to try and prevent that with our SNAP program. We do a lot of spay/neuter assistance but we do still end up with some litters in care. We have so many in care right now. We’ve noticed pretty slow adoption rates in May. We’re hoping that the adoption rates will pick up in June,” says Ayres.
She adds they have a $25 adoption fee for adult cats at an event in the northeast from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
If you can’t get there, you can always arrange to meet the felines of your choice on their website.
