Longtime broadcaster Casey Kasem dead at 82

Longtime broadcaster Casey Kasem has died.

He was 82.

His daughter Kerri broke the news on her Facebook page at about 8a.m. Sunday morning.

The post said Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends.

She wrote, “Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken.”

Kasem had been battling sepsis, dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Kerri said her father was also suffering from serious bedsores along with lung and bladder infections.

Last week, Kerri won a battle with her stepmother jean to become her father’s caretaker and was granted permission to withhold medication, food and drink.
