Firefighters were able to eventually control the blaze.
Mike, who lives close by, says his kids first noticed the black smoke from the kitchen table, while they were eating dinner, he says it was intense; “went over to the neighboring house and probably half damaged that house and did a lot of heat damage to a third house on the other side,” he said.
Mike says it looks like the fire may have started on the patio, he noted there was a b-b-q there.
Smoke from the blaze could be seen across the northern part of the city.
