Three-week challenge for psoriasis sufferers

A new initiative is designed to help Canadians living with psoriasis.

“The Satisfaction Project” is a three-week challenge to encourage patients to take action.

Calgary dermatologist, Dr. Andrei Metelitsa tells 660News, getting a handle on the condition can help reduce or even prevent the development of psoriatic arthritis.

“We know that up to ten to thirty per cent of patients who have psoriasis can also have involvement of their joints.  They often can get swelling, pain and inflammation of the joints and it can be extremely debilitating for them as well,” says Metelitsa.

He says lifestyle improvements, including eating well and exercising, can actually improve overall symptoms of psoriasis and the incidence of the related arthritis.
