BBB issues warning over summer scamming

There’s a warning from the Better Business Bureau about the top summer scams people need to be aware off.

The first, is to be careful if an aggressive door-to-door salesperson comes calling.

BBB spokesperson Leah Brownridge said before agreeing to anything, ask for credentials and don’t hesitate to call the company or organization that person claims to represent.

She said vacation scams are also popular during the summer months.

“People are taking that summer vacation and traveling and sometimes they get duped into online deals that may have hidden fees or maybe they’re not really getting what they thought they were paying for,” she said. “This is something that they need to do that research, check the voucher and the offer, confirm all the deals and discounts.”

The Bureau is also sounding the alarm about bogus contractors, lawn care companies, and unscrupulous movers.
