Deadly week on Alberta highways

Hot weather and Alberta highways are a deadly combination.

Nine people were killed during a crash filled week in the province and the roads will likely only get busier as the weekend approaches.

There have been four fatal collisions on provincial highways since Tuesday.

Four people from outside of the country are dead after a crash near Jasper on Highway 93 Wednesday night after a car and a motorhome collided.

A 47-year old man, his 42-year old wife and their 15-year-old son were killed along with a 79-year old woman in the motorhome.

This comes after a trio of crashes on Tuesday taking the lives of five people.

Two were killed after their minivan crashed through the median along the TransCanada east of Calgary.

While another was killed after a car smashed into a gravel truck on Highway 9 northeast of the city.

In Wetaskiwin, a collision with a dump truck killed a man and a woman in their 60’s.

Speed is believed to be a factor in at least two of these collisions.
