Multiple Miles for Myeloma raises $75,000

With just the right amount of sunshine helping things along, more than 600 people took part in the Multiple Miles for Myeloma – Walk and Run at North Glenmore Park Saturday, raising about $75,000 for research to fight cancer.

Nancy Shamanna, a spokesperson for the event and a five-year- multiple myeloma survivor, said for many people the walk-run is about personal victories as well as research.

“It’s not only that but it’s a very positive event and you’ll see whole families coming out enjoying themselves and just doing something nice and you get your mind off the serious medical aspects,” said Shamanna.

Over $350,000 has been raised since the run-walk began in 2009.
