Rural Canadians can look forward to faster web access

Remote and rural Canadians could finally be getting up to speed, on the internet.
Xplornet Communications has outlined a $1.2 billion plan to bring broadband service with download speeds of 25 megabits per second to all the rural areas it serves by 2017.
The federal government has pledged $305-million over five years to expanding broadband to 98 per cent of Canadians.
The Globe and Mail reports, Xplornet hasn’t announced how much the new packages will cost, but the aim is to keep it in the range people already pay for slower download speeds.
