This article is more than 5 years old.
It’s a piece of history that has seen countless alarms calls and maybe even a few cats stuck in trees.
The Firefighters Museum of Calgary is selling off some of its antique fleet to fund the upkeep of its core display.
Museum supervisor Rebecca Malenka says the decision to auction some of the near 100-year-old trucks was difficult.
She says, “We currently have a fleet of 26 antique firetrucks in our collection, seven of them are original to Calgary, so we’ll definitely be keeping those, but the ones that aren’t from Calgary and not relevant to the development of history and the Calgary Fire Department, will be sold.”
The price to own your own antique fire engine is staying private.
You can see the antique pieces at Calgary Fire headquarters or on the City’s website.
