AESO asks Albertan’s save power

Alberta’s energy regulator is asking for people to conserve power.

AESO spokesperson Angela Anderson said the power grid is stable and operations are back to normal after setting a consumption record Wednesday, but people still need to do their part.

“During these hot summer days we’re always asking people to conserve if they can,” she said, “so just turning off unnecessary lights and appliances, try to minimize the use of air conditioning.”

Anderson said some other ways to cut down on power is to close drapes and blinds and only use major appliances like washing machines after 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, AESO asked Albertans to limit power consumption because of the hot weather combined with little wind and the shut-down of a couple generators.
