Handful of southeast homes vandalized with graffiti

Vandals have damaged a number of southeast Calgary homes in a rash of graffiti incidents, this weekend.

The culprits spray-painted swastikas — some of them backwards — and insults on at least five homes in Sundance and Midnapore overnight Friday and into Saturday morning.

Mike Dawson’s home in Midnapore was one of those hit, and he says he has no idea how he’ll remove the black swastikas from his house. He can’t think of a reason he’d be targeted — especially since he’s not Jewish — but believes it’s just vandals trying to offend people.

So far police have no suspects, but say the incidents are being taken seriously whether it’s a case of  hate crime or not.
