Formed in peacetime, forged in wartime, and at all times formidable, the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, also known as the PPCLI, is now marking their 100th anniversary in 2014.
Event organizer Paul Hughes tells 660News, the celebrations have already kicked off in Edmonton this weekend and will come back to Calgary on August 15 and 16th at The Better ‘Ole in the Mewata Armoury downtown.
He says, “It’s the same thing, it’s a public beer garden and everybody is welcome to come out and say hello and have a beer with us and enjoy the festivities and there’s a whole bunch of things for kids, bouncey castle, there’s some old military items that will be on display, there’s a travelling museum. We have the memorial baton relay coming through town.”
All funds raised here in Calgary will go to the veterans’ health and housing program.
