A popular Calgary-area mall will undertake a $60-million redevelopment.
The owners of the Cross Iron Mills are investing the money, to relocate and expand its food court, which will create space for several new retailers.
General Manager James Moller tells 660News, as the mall gets bigger, it’s starting to rival an iconic location up in Edmonton.
“West Edmonton Mall is still the biggest in Canada and so, we’re not quite in that league, but in terms of retail draw and sales we’re inching closer to West Ed. We’re adding to that retail mix,” he said.
The new food court will feature 16 vendors, up from the current 14, while increasing the number of seats to 1,300.
The shopping destination in Balzac has been open for nearly five years, and has more than 200 retailers.
