Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, however two city councillors are working on a new motion that would see Calgarians able to have backyard coops.
Councillor Ray Jones tells Metro Calgary, he and Gian Carlo-Carra are working on a new urban chicken pilot project, similar to the one that was voted down in 2010 by city council.
Monday, the City of Edmonton approved its own program that will kick off this fall.
Jones tells the paper, you’d be surprised how many are secretly raising backyard chickens, and that they aren’t annoying as many may think.
He says they are still working out when to bring the new motion forward at City Hall.
