It’s harvest time at Grow Calgary

On a small parcel of land just west of Canada Olympic Park, dedicated volunteers are now harvesting this year’s first crop for Grow Calgary.

Farm manager Paul Hughes tells 660News, after all the sun, heat and rain, the kale and shard have responded well.

He says, “We planted fourteen different types of vegetables for the Calgary Foodbank and we’re harvesting pretty well all of those vegetables right now.”

Hughes adds, they’ve moved away from the traditional way of weighing their harvest and instead, are focusing on nutritional value/content and total solid calories for the organization.

Hughes says about a thousand Calgarians have helped with the harvest so far and if you’d like to, drop by on weekends between 11 and 3.
