With the long weekend here law officials are watching Alberta roads closely.
Sheriff Jason Graw told 660News there are several factors that make the long weekends perilous.
“If you’re going to consume alcohol, do it when you reach your destination or have someone else, utilize one of these other options when you’re going to be drinking. Cell phones are another big one, about 20 per cent of fatal collisions in this province involve alcohol so that’s serious, while about 20 per cent involve speed.” said Graw.
Graw said everyone needs to share the road and warns motorcyclists in particular are vulnerable to serious injuries.
He says most drivers are responsible, but officers are out to make sure everyone else is safe as well.
