Police shut down 17th Ave S.W. after apparent beating

Police have 17th Avenue shut down at several locations after an overnight attack that’s left a man with potentially life threatening head injuries.

The victim was found at 17th Avenue and 12th Street S.W., after apparently being beaten just before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Since investigators don’t know if the attack happened at that location, they’ve closed down the road from 11th to 14th Streets while they narrow down the scope of the crime scene.

660News reporter Lucas Meyer says it appears the parking lot of a Wendy’s restaurant near 11th Street is the focal point of the police investigation.

Meyer adds police are taking photographs of the parking lot as well as the building location and a nearby green spot.

EMS say the victim was rushed to hospital with substantial injuries.

They’re in the midst of looking for witnesses and, so far, don’t have much to go on in the way of suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or CrimeStoppers.
