Small plane joins motorists on highway in K-Country

It wasn’t just the usual big-horned sheep on the side of the road west of Calgary on Sunday.

Mike Landry tells 660News, he was driving toward Highway 40 in K-Country when he heard what sounded like a plane in a bit of trouble.

He says, “about ten minutes later when we made the turn onto Highway 40, there he was; soon after that I guess a rescue chopper landed to see if he was OK.”

Landry posted a picture of the plane on Twitter: a small craft pulled over to the shoulder with its wingspan taking up a couple of lanes.

The pilot had gotten out of the craft to wave traffic through when fire crews and RCMP arrived to check in.

It appears the pilot was fine, but there was no word on what caused the plane to make the unusual highway landing.
