Alberta postsecondary students struggle financially: Study

Members of low-income families heading to post-secondary studies seem to have a harder time in Alberta than the rest of the country.

That is according to a study done by The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives that claims Albertan students are in a pinch trying to make ends meet.

The report also projects average tuition costs will rise by nine per cent to over $7,700 per student in 2017.

Tuition costs themselves are on par with other provinces but when paired with the cost of living the CCPA study suggests Alberta is far more expensive for low income families than any other part of the country.
