Festivities kick off this weekend in Sylvan Lake for Kraft Hockeyville.
The town will see four days of celebration, starting Sunday, with the Community Fun Fair, and then things culminate Wednesday, when the Calgary Flames take on the Arizona Coyotes in pre-season action.
Kathy Murphy with Kraft Canada says, it’s a pleasure to be involved.
“Now, we’ve long believed in the power of hockey and we believe that communities build hockey, but hockey builds communities,” she said. “There is a state in Canada where a lot of communities need extra help. They are not necessarily getting the support they have gotten in the past to help build the infrastructure for hockey.”
Sylvan Lake beat out 15 other towns across the country to host Hockeyville, and win $100,000 in arena upgrades.
