The shooting of a cougar near the South Calgary Hospital will be investigated.
Admitting he’s not an expert on the issue, Alberta Justice Minister Jonathan Denis has ordered a full review of the incident.
Wildlife Officers shot and killed the cougar on Thursday after it wandered near the hospital.
The incident is all over YouTube, with people watching in the video questioning why the big cat had to be shot.
An Alberta Government official says officers had hoped to tranquilize the animal and trap it, but a dart could have further irritated the cat which they already believed to be highly agitated.
He adds there was a risk the cougar could have run into a more populated area.
