Underage drinkers more likely to become alcoholics: study

It would appear that teens who try their first alcoholic drink at a young age are more likely to repeat the experience.

A U.S. study suggests they have a greater risk of again getting intoxicated while young, drinking more frequently and binge drinking more often.

The research says binge drinking is more likely to occur if there’s a shorter time between first drink and first intoxication.

Researchers surveyed 896 high school students about their alcohol use habits and found 41 per cent reported drinking in the past month.
