WINS robbery investigation continues; organization needs donations

A local charity that helps women in need, also known as WINS, was the target of a break-in back on December 27th, 2014.

Their main store and head office in S.E. Dover suffered the loss of a safe, the master keys to all four of their thrift stores and close to $10,000 in cash.

Executive Director Laura Dickson tells 660News, they’re seeing a lot of need after the holiday season and unfortunately, they don’t have much of an update about the ongoing robbery investigation.

She says, “As a result of the video surveillance footage that we were able to turn over to Calgary Police Services, they did make an appeal for tips through Crime Stoppers at the beginning of January and so we are very much hoping that the public will come forward with additional information to assist the police in their investigation.”

Dickson adds if you’d like to help WINS, they’re now looking for donations of gently-used kitchen items a family would need to set up a household and cash donations are always welcome.
