City wants to address misconceptions with secondary suite info sessions

The City of Calgary is hosting information sessions to discuss secondary suites.
They will be held for wards 7, 8, 9, and 11.
Officials are hoping that the information sessions will help address misconceptions and potentially streamline approvals in the future, creating much needed affordable housing in our city.
Ward 9 Councillor Gian-Carlo Carra said Calgary lags behind in this area. “There’s not a major municipality in Canada that hasn’t legalized secondary suites,” he said. “Calgary has this weird hold-out. What we know from those cities is it’s not Armageddon; cats and dogs aren’t sleeping together.”
Carra added although secondary suites won’t be the overall solution for the housing crisis, it will help.
