Judge convicts Calgary man of first-degree murder in death of ex-girlfriend

Kristopher Guenther has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Lacey Jones-McKnight.

The judge said Guenther confined Jones-McKnight and strangled her to death, in October 2012.

During the trial, Guenther said he was only trying to restrain her during an argument.

The judge says much of Guenther’s evidence appeared to be contrived, before delivering a guilty verdict.

Guenther faces life in prison without parole for 25 years.
