It is officially the first full day of Spring, and it appears Albertans are ready to start enjoying outdoor activities.
Tim Chamberlin with Alberta Parks said that early bookings show many Albertans are looking forward to the camping season.
“Our reservealbertaparks.ca online system has been active since February,” Chamberlin said. “We’ve seen a number of people already anxious to get into our parks. We’ve had over 12,000 online reservations to date.”
There have also been a number of inquiries into comfort camping. This year there are 29 units offering the laid-back style of camping, up from last season’s 17.
The comfort camping sites are available at Sir Winston Churchill, Pigeon Lake and Winham/Carseland Provincial Parks.
Despite the change of seasons, Chamberlin said he is still receiving inquiries about winter activities like snowshoeing, skating and back-country hiking.
