Passerby finds body near peak of C.O.P., investigators confirm death is suspicious

A possible crime scene has emerged from a scrubby area near the top of the ski jump on the edge of the Canada Olympic Park property.

Police now confirm the death is suspicious.

The body of a male was discovered early Wednesday morning close to an access road that runs about 20 metres from the main roadway.

The identity of the deceased, including approximate age, has not been released.

Acting detective Martin Taylor tells 660News during this initial part of the investigation there are very few details available.

“At around 2:30 [Wednesday] morning, a call was received of a body having been discovered in the area of C.O.P,” Taylor said.

The passerby called paramedics. EMS said when they arrived they were concerned about what they found and called police.

The medical examiner was on scene for about an hour trying to determine if there were suspicious circumstances around the death.

The Crime Scene Unit arrived later in the morning.
