Vigil being held for missing, murdered Aboriginal women

A vigil is being held at Courthouse Park Thursday to honour the life of Cindy Gladue, who was found dead in an Edmonton hotel room in 2011.

The man accused of her killing was found not guilty earlier this month which has sparked protests and a petition calling for an appeal.

Organizers say the rally also serves to remember all missing or murdered Aboriginal women.

It gets underway at noon, and will include prayers and condolences books to sign.

The Gladue family will also be reading a statement.
