The Calgary Fire Dept. was flooded with calls regarding smoke in the northeast around 3 p.m. Thursday.
There was a fire in a strip mall around 29th Avenue and 36th Street SE and crews snuffed out the flames pretty soon after arriving.
The fire department’s Carol Henke said everyone was out when they arrived.
“The good news is people had self-evacuated before fire department arrival, it is a series of bays that are connected so it looks like there were 20 to 30 people,” she said.
No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
