Calgary artist among the missing in Nepal

After a massive quake struck in Nepal, family and friends are hoping to find a missing 24-year-old Calgarian.

Tamara McLeod last spoke with her sister on April 11th.

She is a local artist who has travelled in the region before.

McLeod was travelling with an Australian man by the name of Julien Penpone who has also not been heard from.

Her sister Michelle Dack said McLeod was planning on making a trek in a region of Langtang National Park.

“I don’t know anything about that area, and I haven’t been able to get any news reports about that area and how devastated it is, but I know the Langtang area is really not doing very well, there’s been an avalanche recently,” she said. “We just need to know that she’s okay and that she’s with somebody”.

Dack said there is a group of around 100 people stranded in the region where they believe Tamara was trekking.

She said the family is being supported by the community, but they just want to know she’s safe.

A person finder account has been set up for McLeod.
