Mere hours before he was to take to the high wire, Ricky from the ‘World Famous Wallendas’ was running around Calgary trying to get new costumes and tools together after what’s being described as a “brazen daytime theft”.
Cathy Sproule, with the Royal Canadian Circus, told 660News while raising the big top along 16th Avenue NE, near Barlow Trail Friday, it looks like someone in a red truck pulled into the area, hitched up to a plain white utility trailer, and took off.
“It had everything in it, including costumes, apparatus that goes back three generations,” Sproule said. “It’s like somebody taking half of your home away and all the props for your work away. I mean thank god we have the high wire. There’s all kinds of other things in there.”
Sproule said they understand the apparent thief may not have known a man’s whole life in this trailer.
If the person who took the truck returns it, as well as the contents inside, Sproule said they won’t press charges.
Anyone who thinks they may know what happened to the trailer can call Crime Stoppers.
