Gala to help keep doors open for Calgary’s Missing Children Society

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Missing Children Society will be held in Calgary this Thursday, May 14th.

The annual “Raise Hope” gala and silent auction actually helps keep the doors open for the organization, which receives no government funding.

C.E.O Amanda Pick tells 660News, if you can’t help them financially, you can still be a big part of their success through social media.

“The idea that we’re a connected community, through technology, we can ensure that if a child goes missing, immediately people have that information in their hands and can partner with police to bring that missing child home,” says Pick.

“We can send out an alert that comes directly from Calgary police, through our network and get that into an individual’s hands, who perhaps is at the right place at the right time to save the life of a child or to ensure a missing child is safe.”

You can go to their website to find out how to connect through Facebook and Twitter and spread the word whenever a child needs help.

There are still plenty of tickets left for the gala to be held Thursday night at Hotel Arts.
