It’s been a long-time coming for stakeholders of an artist space in southwest Calgary, but on Wednesday, with the mayor in attendance, they finally broke ground on cSPACE.
It’s going to be located in the old King Edward School, transforming the 103 year old building and its surrounding neighbourhood.
President and CEO of Calgary Arts Development Patti Pon told 660News that it was a huge day for the arts community.
“This will be a great addition to the arts spaces scene and just the arts scene generally,” Pon said. “I hope that for the community, when the space is up and open and running, they’ll also see it as a hub and a connecting place.”
cSPACE is expected to be open and ready for residency next year.
