RCMP on high alert for long weekend

The RCMP is reminding Albertans officers won’t be taking the long weekend off.

Mounties are expecting an increase in traffic volume with more RV’s and motorcycles expected on the road for Victoria Day Celebrations.

Special attention will be paid to impaired and distracted drivers, speeders, and those not wearing a seatbelt.

In addition, Saturday is National Impaired Driving Day and check stops will be set up across the country.

If you’re headed out to a wilderness area, expect to see Mounties and Alberta Sheriffs making sure you’re obeying the rules when it comes to alcohol, campfire, and ATV safety.
