Poverty Talks hosts pancake breakfast

It’s a difficult choice many Canadians have to make: whether to buy food or pay other bills.

Poverty Talks is holding a free Pancake Breakfast Wednesday morning to raise awareness about food insecurity.

Spokesperson Susan Gwynn says sometimes the only option is to buy inexpensive, less nutritional foods, adding food is a basic human right.

“We’re pushing towards an absolute crisis,” Gwynn said. “We just can’t afford to have an inalienable human right violated continuously over and over again. It’s food — they need to be able to have it to think, they need to be able to have it to function at their work.”

The event goes from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at Eastside Victory Outreach on 38th Street SE.
