While many are bemoaning the loss of parking spots because of the new cycle track network, a new report going to a city committee finds more spaces have been added downtown than lost.
In the past year, 397 spaces have been removed, but 477 have been added.
Of those, 329 spots are for regular vehicles, while another 148 are reserved for car sharing programs like Car2Go.
There’s lots of choice: with 4,763 on-street spots in the core and around 50,000 stalls in parkades.
Some councillors argue downtown parking is going to change; that just comes with the territory of a rapidly growing city like Calgary.
