CPS identify Willow Park shooting victim

Calgary police have identified the man who was fatally shot in a brazen mid-morning shooting in the Willow Park Centre office building Wednesday.

23-year-old Taylor John Zanoni was shot shortly before 11 a.m. and was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus said investigators still have no suspects in the case and are reviewing CCTV footage and talking with witnesses.

“We will be looking into his background, we will be looking at the reasons why he was at that building,” he said.

This is Calgary’s 10th homicide of the year and it is not considered random.

Although police wouldn’t officially comment on his past, Zanoni has been involved in criminal behaviour.

Zanoni was charged with 33 criminal offences last December after a joint investigation between RCMP and CPS after search warrants found $250,000 worth of drugs.

The drugs included heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and a .357 Magnum revolver was also found with an altered serial number at the home on 17th Avenue S.W.
