Lightning may have sparked Martindale house fire

The rain and thunderstorm Tuesday evening was short, but it seems it didn’t go by Calgary without doing some damage.

The Calgary fire department was called to Martin Brook Road NE around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

When crews arrived they reported seeing flames coming from the roof.

An adult and child home at the time got out safely.

Emergency crews said the adult reported lightning hit the house and then spread into the attic.

The fire was put out quickly but crews remained on scene to put out hot spots.
