Coming soon to a WestJet flight near you: WestJet Connect, an easier way to watch movies or TV and connect to the Internet.
On Monday, they launched their first commercial flight using the service.
Richard Bartrem, VP of Communications told 660 NEWS that it is expected to be popular.
“An on board server that has more than 400 movies and TV shows that are available,” Bartrem said. “As opposed to having to watch them on what used to be the TV on the back of the seat, it’s now to whatever device you happen to be bringing with you. So whether you have a tablet or a smartphone or a computer with you; all of those things now allow you to connect to those movies. In addition, it also gives you Internet access.”
Bartrem also said there will be fees to connect to the Internet or watch first run movies.
Just one plane has it now, but ten more should have it soon and all WestJet planes will have the service by the end of 2017.
