Standoff in Cranston ends peacefully

Calgary police confirmed Thursday that a nine-hour long standoff situation in the southeast community of Cranston was resolved peacefully, and without incident.
At around 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, officers were in the process of taking someone into custody as part of an ongoing investigation, when the person moved into a nearby residence.
One person has since been taken into custody, and the investigation continues.
Police had warned the public to avoid the area around the intersection of Cranfield Park and Cranfield Green S.E., and asked people not post pictures of responding officers or vehicles to social media so the situation could be resolved quickly and safely.
In a release, police thanked the public for helping resolve the situation.
