Calgary hosts crime conference

Experts from 10 countries are in Calgary this week for the 2015 International Crime Prevention through Environment Design Conference.

Topics will include why a house may be chosen for crime, displacement of offenders, crime prevention in Mexico, issues in shopping centres, security in public transportation, and university safety.

There will also be a special session on security and homeless people.

It’s believed criminal behaviour can be discouraged through environmental design.

The conference is taking place Monday and Tuesday at the Coast Plaza Hotel in the northeast.
