Poppy campaign launches

Lieutenant Governor Lois Mitchell will be presented with the first poppy of the year by the Royal Canadian Legion Wednesday.

The event is taking place in the Alberta Legislature rotunda at 11 a.m.

The poppy campaign starts Thursday and runs until Remembrance Day on November 11.

The funds collected help Canada’s veterans in need.

The speaker of the Legislative Assembly says when we wear a poppy on our left lapel; we honour and respect the fallen members of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force.
