Fraser Institute study says there’s no need for fracking ban

A new study argues there is no need to ban fracking.
According to the Fraser Institute, existing technologies and best practices are enough to manage potential risks.
Fraser’s Kenneth Green says the key is to ensure those best practices are in place.
“There’s one area, which is the proper drilling of the wells, that could possibly be beefed up a little bit, in the sense of having an independent certification body that certifies the wall is properly drilled and cased before you can engage in fracturing,” he said.
The institute looked at 14 studies done by major government bodies to compile its findings.
It says some reports did associate seismic activity with fracking, but the earthquakes were so small they were barely noticeable.
