Deadly weekend on Alberta highways

Emergency crews in the province were kept busy over the weekend, responding to what one officer called the worst weekend for crashes in Alberta in years.
Fourteen people were killed in eight unrelated crashes across the province between Friday night and Sunday morning.
On Sunday alone, three fatal crashes happened within four hours, and were all results of single vehicle rollovers.
The final crash occurred just before noon near Turner Valley. A 32-year-old woman was found unconscious in the vehicle, and died on scene from her injuries.The 34-year-old male driver has been arrested.
Around 8:30 a.m. near Ponoka, a 25-year-old woman died, and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital. Around the same time, near Wetaskawin, a 27-year-old woman died, and a 24–year-old man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The deaths started on Friday night, when a truck and car collided north of Edmonton, leaving the 44-year-old male car driver dead.
On Saturday morning, a single vehicle rollover killed four men and sent three more to hospital.
Another man died in a crash near Evansburg west of Edmonton, and another two were killed when they were ejected from a vehicle that rolled near Peace River.
Following that, three people who were in a pickup that collided with a gravel truck also died in a collision west of Edmonton near Spruce Grove.
According to RCMP, all of the crashes are still under investigation.
