October was warm and dry in Calgary

October was a great weather month, for those who aren’t fans of cold and wet conditions.

Last month was warmer than usual: the average temperature was 14.6 degrees, higher than the long term 30-year average of 11.7 degrees.

While October is usually a dry month, it was even dryer than typically seen: Calgary only had 2.6 millimetres of rain in October, well below the average of 7.5, and the snowfall amounted to 3.0 centimetres, well below the long term average of 10 centimetres.

The killing frost also arrived later this year, happening on October 24, compared to the long term average date of September 15.
