Professor: Calgary should be represented in federal Cabinet

At least one Calgary MP should land on Trudeau’s Cabinet.

That’s the opinion of Mount Royal University political scientist Duane Bratt.

“I expect Kent Hehr to be in Cabinet, I mean the symbolism of a Liberal from Calgary who represents Calgary-Centre, where all the downtown energy office buildings are, I think he would be a natural fit for natural resources, we we’ll have to see but I do expect a senior post for Kent Hehr,” Bratt explained to City News.

He says the grit breakthrough in Calgary was a major milestone, and new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will want the city to be represented.

Bratt is hopeful both Calgary and Edmonton will be represented in the forthcoming Cabinet announcement, but rationalized with only four Liberal MPs in Alberta, he’s less convinced the province’s capital would receive a nod.

There will be no individual chauffeured limo rides for members of Justin Trudeau’s cabinet to Rideau Hall when it’s revealed, Wednesday.

Trudeau and his ministers will be arriving together, on a bus, for the swearing-in ceremony.
