Plans for the Energy East pipeline project are undergoing some changes.
TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) announced the revised plans Thursday, after getting input from local communities, key stakeholders, and customers.
The biggest change is the removal of a port in Quebec. The company will amend the pipeline application before the National Energy Board as a result.
TransCanada president and CEO Russ Girling maintains pipelines are the safest way of transporting crude oil to market.
The Energy East pipeline would move oil from Western Canada to refineries in Quebec and New Brunswick.
